Summer 2024 is finally here! It's time to kick back and enjoy the beautiful weather. What better way to do that than with camp! Let's look over this month at Makanalani!
Summer of Adventure at the Kids House!
The Kids House has had a strong start to the summer! Filled with adventures everywhere you look. Camps have been a huge success bringing in kids from all over the islands and beyond to join together for a fun week. These keiki bring such a light to our lives. It’s a joy to see them in their element and having a blast!
This is just a start to the summer! Keep an eye out for even more summer adventures to come soon!
Donkey Days on the Farm
The farm has been bustling! The animals have all been enjoying a rest from the rainy season and they have been getting a lot of extra attention from all the summer groups visiting us! Our two baby donkeys, Pancho and Ivy, are growing strong and healthy and are already fan favorites of the kids who visit them!
These summer days taking strolls around the property help us appreciate Gods creation even more!
Makanalani Interns
Our interns have been busy this summer! They’ve been working hard performing maintenance on the farm, helping lead activities and investing into youth groups at the Kids House, making products with produce from the farm and selling it at our farmers market stand, and working JoJo’s Shave Ice! On top of all the work, they have also been taking full advantage of the beautiful summer weather by spending their days off relaxing at the beach and learning to surf!
One highlight for them this month was being able to take some time to visit west side of the island for a change! The interns got the chance to spend a couple days up with our friends at Camp Hale Koa and enjoy a weekend of rest, building community, and seeing the sights of the incredible Waimea Canyon!
We are so grateful for this group of young adults and all of their service to helping Makanalani function! Many lives have been touched due to their work, and we are excited to see everything else God has in store for them to learn in their remaining time here.

Camp Rooted
We had the opportunity to host Camp Rooted yet again this year! It’s such a blessing to see all of these church groups come together to host a camp to invest into so many youth! It was a great week of creativity, community, and so many games!
