Summer time is officially here! We LOVE this time of year. We're filled to the brim with different youth camps and we get to witness so many young lives being changed!
First Group of the Summer
Summer is the best time in a kid’s life. And as you can see from all these big smiles, these keiki had the time of their lives! We were stoked to have the youth of Calvary Chapel Lihue up at Makanalani to kick off the first summer camp of the year! They had a blast playing games, hanging by the fire pit, and hearing from some great speakers. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the camps have planned this summer!
Summer Babies!
We’re convinced there is nothing cuter than cute little lambs and fluffy baby donkeys! Our farm has been flourishing with fresh new life recently and we’re, clearly, not too mad about it. Our interns have been learning the ins and outs of how to tend to sheep and shepherd a flock and we’re going to take a wild guess and say they’re loving it. I mean, who could complain when your job is to cuddle some fluffy donkeys?

We’ve got a brand new jam in town! Introducing our Soursop Jam! If you’ve never seen a soursop fruit or have literally never heard of a soursop, we recommend doing a quick little Google search to see how crazy cool this fruit looks. It’s not just your average grocery store fruit aisle find. On island, it’s common to find it in lemonades, kombuchas, smoothies, or just some good old fashioned soursop juice.
If you’ve had soursop before, you can probably imagine just how delicious this jam is. If you live on island or plan to visit soon, come by our Hanalei or Anaina Hou Farmers Market stand to try it out!
Busy Business
There’s no busier season than Summer for our little Hawaiian island. According to some reports, this may even be the busiest Summer Kauai has EVER seen! That’s both a yay and a yikes. We’re stoked to see SO many new faces enjoying our yummy shave ice, but between staffing shortages and supply shortages, we’re trying our very best to keep up with all the extra demand. So if you’ve ever had a dream of living in Kauai and working at a shave ice shop.. the time is definitely now. All worries aside, we are excited to watch our amazing staff rock it this Summer! It will be hard work but oh so worth it to benefit these kiddos!
