Chicken in a Barrel Waimea Celebrates ONE YEAR of Service!

Opening Chicken in a Barrel was nothing short of a miracle for those involved. What started as a run down shell of a restaurant building has now made it’s way, a year later, to offering table side service, hosting a concert, and even hosting a wedding. From its humble beginnings, our Makanalani staff, with the pivotal help of our first manager Jim Smith and his wife Michelle, transformed the building into what it is today. Jim was able to help us not only get the restaurant going, but also assisted in getting the building ready to open. Half way through the summer, Jim handed the reins over to Josh Sabio, our current manager, who carried on the progress of our first restaurant to where it is now.

It’s so exciting to look back over our first year and see how far we’ve come. This restaurant radiates hard work, beauty, and professionalism while keeping its eye on the mission as it starts to contribute to Makanalani. We are so thankful for the hands that not only got us here today, but also the hands that continue to keep it flourishing.

Our Mission: Giving children the seeds for growth as they experience the beauty of God’s creation and love.
