This is a beautiful time of year, the world is alight with joy and celebrations for Jesus’ arrival on this God given planet we are blessed to call home. People are celebrating with friends and family, holding parties and visiting each other with gifts and food bringing happiness and joy to each other. But let’s spread that joy further afield.
While you may among your own or your church family have people who don’t get out so much anymore, or who may be lonely that you care for, look a little further afield to those who may not have a family around, or even those that cannot get out and about much due to ill health or lack of transport. There are always people wanting in your community and a little love and prayer can go a long way. Try reaching our to others around you, inviting them to church with you, or just praying with them, see if there is anything else they need, a trip to the store or the doctors, maybe some food, sharing a part of a home cooked meal with those that cannot cook for themselves anymore. The world has many people who could do with our help and as Christian’s it is our duty to help others.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.’

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.’
‘Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’
‘Matthew 5:42
Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.’
‘Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.’
There are many tales in the Bible of Jesus helping and healing the poor. Let us lead by His example and strive to help others as He would. And let’s do this all year, not just at Christmas.
