In 1998 the Kauai PowWow council was formed with the intention of providing a traditional Native American Powwow and cultural event for the Kauai community. And each year since they’ve put on a free family event for all to come and enjoy while keeping Native and Polynesian cultures thriving, while also providing Native American education outreach to children.
This year marks the 19th Annual Powwow and again it’s at Kapaa Beach Park, from September 28th to 29th. This free family event will have Native foods to enjoy, vendors and crafts to purchase from plus games for you to join in with. Schools can also book to bring their classes down for the outreach program to learn all about Native American and Polynesian heritage, email kauaipowwow@gmail.com to find out more.
