There are many things that spring to mind when someone says the word ‘family’, most often it’s that of a loving family all gathered around a fire, mom, pop, keiki and kupuna. But for a lot of us family can mean something quite different. Not everyone has a full and loving family to call their own or to spend time with this holiday season, and quite simply some of us just might not be around as much as we wish due to work commitments.
We have our church families of course, and our friends are a type of family too, but what about pets? Well many of us would consider them our family too, and why not, they love and live with us as much as any other family member. Well what about adding to that furry family this holiday season?
Animals miss their families as well, and during the holidays when all are thinking of the glory of Christmas many animals are sat in shelters waiting for their own Christmas miracle.
Well we have an solution that can help all! This Christmas Kauai Humane Society are running two programs: Tis the Season for Sloppy Kisses! Free Adoptions runs from December 18th to December 30th and is just that, free adoptions! All fees are waived. And from December 23rd to December 26th they have another program running, Tis the Season for Sloppy Kisses (Pick Up) where you can take a shelter dog home for the holidays and show them the love that they are missing, you can return the dog on December 26th – which we have to admit would be very sad to do! or adopt them for free!
