An Internship Program, New Restaurants, and 2,210 pounds of citrus

If you’ve been reading along, you know that this month has been very busy and exciting as we launched our first ever Serve Session! The first week was a lot of fun, and we welcomed our newest intern, Amanda, over the weekend. We continue to receive applications for our spring and summer 2018 sessions, and interviews are underway. Welcome to the team Amanda!

In order for us to offer Makanalani to kids at no cost, we run different businesses to fund the farm. This month, we signed lease agreements for a third JoJo’s Shave Ice and a Chicken in a Barrel franchise, both of which will be located in Kapaa near a busy resort. You can see more about this yummy BBQ chicken HERE.

Totaling up our citrus this month, we have sold over 1 TON of citrus to different businesses on the north shore in October… 2,210 pounds to be exact! With help from our staff and volunteers, abundant amounts of lemons, limes, grapefruit, and tangerines are picked, weighed, boxed, and delivered every week.

As always, thank you for partnering with us and reading along!
