We are both lucky and proud to live on an island such as Kauai. Not only are we blessed by our Lord God for the opportunity to be living in such a beautiful place, but it’s also such an historically fascinating one, and one that keeps that history alive and well to this day.
On Saturday, October 14th, from 9am-4 pm you can join in with one of Kauai’s most beautiful and historical re-created events. The 29th Annual Emalani Festival Kaua`i (Eo e Emalani i Alaka`i Festival) presented by Hui o Laka and held on the lush expanse of the Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Koke`e State Park.
This authentic Hawaiian cultural event recalls Queen Emma’s journey on horseback up into Kokee in 1871. Queen Emma will enter the meadow on horseback at 11am for a day of celebration, hula, history, song, and pageantry, all to honor this much loved monarch. And that’s not all, there will be crafts, exhibits, a silent auction, and a snack shop to purchase from. Carpooling is recommended, as is bringing your own blankets and chairs to sit on. But please, no tents, coolers or animals.
