This worthwhile endeavor’s purpose is to make sure that every child on Kauai will be going off to school with a smile on their face and a backpack filled with everything they need for the school year.
The lucky ones among us can remember the confident joy a backpack full of school supplies brought us, that confident hop in our step, and for those of us who didn’t have the luxury how much harder it made settling into the school year. This is something we want to prevent.
All keiki deserve the best start in life and here is one way in which you can help. Sharon Lasker The Backpack Brigade Chair for 2017 will forward your name to one of the Guildas assisting, then they will then send you a child in needs name, along with all the appropriate information on what you need to do, and buy.
This year 200 children on Kauai are in need. By purchasing and filling an age appropriate backpack with the school supplies needed for your assigned student’s school and grade you will be helping them enormously.
If you’d like to help but would rather someone else do the shopping then that’s no problem as they are more than happy to accept checks made out to Child and Family Service Kauai, please jot ‘Backpack Brigade’ on your check’s memo line.
