While it’s easy to admire to length and breath of his work not everyone finds it that accessible. Do you find yourself struggling with the language or meaning, or wishing that you could see and feel the passion that others do with Shakespeare?
If so I think we might be able to help. The good folks at Kauai Community College are running an Understanding Shakespeare Course from June 7th to July 26th.
The course is an introduction to Shakespeare. You will spend two weeks every Tuesday on a representative work of each of four major categories of plays that Shakespeare wrote:
Tragedies (Hamlet)
Histories (Henry IV, Part 1)
Comedies (Much Ado About Nothing)
and Romances (The Tempest)
You will also briefly look at some of the major sonnets he wrote. There will be discussion of the historical and biographical context of the works but most of the class periods will be spent on discussing and analyzing the works.
The course will be led by Dr. Richard Randolph who has a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Mexico (1996). He is a professor of English at Kauai Community College who regularly teaches British, World, and American literature.
If this sounds like something that might be fun for you or someone you know you can find out more at http://ce.uhcc.hawaii.edu
The course costs $320 and will be held at KCC
