Do you like Hula? This traditional dance consists of six basic steps, undulating hips and gestures that symbolize or imitate historical or mythological subjects and natural phenomena. Here on Kauai we are blessed to have many talented performers, who put on wonderful shows for us all to enjoy. One of which is coming up soon on Saturday, February 4th.
The 25th Annual Ho’ike Hula Concert presented by Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low and Halau Hulu ‘O Leilani will be at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. Tickets are $30 for adults, $35 on the door, and $10 for youth aged 5-12, $15 on the door, 4 years and under get in for free.
The Ho’ike will showcase Hula Kahiko, ‘Auana, Maori, Tongan and Tahitian Dances, plus special guests The Makaha Sons! There will also be a Polynesian craft fair starting at 5 pm, and the show starts at 7 pm. Doesn’t it sound wonderful! Lucky we live Kauai!
