Everyone has a soft spot for grandmas, but did you know the actual term grandmother is used only once in the Bible, & that honor belongs to Lois?
Lois was the mother of Eunice & grandmother of Timothy. She was devout & instructed her daughter & grandson in the scripture of the Old Testament. They lived at Lystra, & it’s possible that Paul met them when he traveled there. Paul does mention the “unfeigned faith” that dwelt in all three.
Certainly these women as well as Timothy must have been of noble character to have earned such praise from the stern Paul. The Book of Timothy talks much of the things that Timothy had been taught, not only by Paul, but, presumably by his wise mother & grandmother as well.
