A reminder that the Kauai Festival of Lights continues every Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 6-8pm through Christmas Eve.
There are decorated tress at the County Building on Rice Street & Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be there to greet the keiki.
It’s a Kauai tradition in its 19th year & a great family outing, with a very Kauai story:
Auntie Josie began turning “trash into treasure” over 50 years ago. To the delight of the community, her glorious creations crafted from humble materials such as soda can, bottle caps, & styrofoam cups were displayed annually at her Kapaa home.
For 20 years, during the Holiday season many thousand of children & generations of families visited her house which was lit from the ground to the rooftops, enjoying such favorites as a Christmas tree made of 7,500 green toothpicks, wreaths made of plastic egg cartons & a twinkling carousel & revolving ferris wheel all lovingly crafter to resemble magical treasure!

From this humble beginning grew the Kauai Festival of Lights, now an island wide tradition. Thank you, Auntie Josie.
