After a hot and busy Summer, we've been getting to enjoy some cooler weather and a bit of downtime, with the exception of Fall Break of course!
Fall Break Groups
Fall Break was a blast at the Kids House! Since school is in session, there aren’t a ton of kids groups that come through during the Fall, so once Fall Break rolled around our interns were very eager to hang out with some keiki and serve at some camps! They played tons of games, went on night hikes, helped with meals, cleaning, and much more! It’s always so much fun to see how creative the groups get with different games and to see so many kids having the time of their lives at Makanalani!
Building Blocks
A dream of ours has always been to build some staff housing for some of our Makanalani managers. Finally, after a long time of waiting and planning, we have finally broken ground on the house! It will be located in Kilauea, very close to our intern house and only about 10 minutes away from the Makanalani farm. Our hope is that it will bless some of our management staff and enable them to stay on island to continue to be a part of Makanalani’s mission for a long while!
Fall Festival
Every year Kauai Christian Academy puts on an amazing Fall Festival for the local community and our interns have the privilege of getting to volunteer to help make it happen! From helping with setup and breakdown, running the games, and parking duty, our interns had lots of fun getting to be a part of a local community event!
Westside Best Side
Our group of Fall interns took a weekend camping trip to the beautiful Westside of Kauai! We try to take every group camping at least once during their session so they can get out and explore unique parts of the island. So after weeks of serving and working hard, they got to kick back, relax, and explore some beautiful sights in Waimea Canyon! Eric and Lyn even got to tag along this time!
