What’s New… Da Pizza Place & West Side Intern House!!

This past month brought a lot of changes for the Makanalani group down on the West Side. As you all know, the Makanalani group has started several small businesses to support the free camps for kids at the Makanalani ranch, each donating 100% of the profits to keeping the ranch and its free camps open. The West Side of Kauai is already home to the original JoJo’s Shave Ice, part of Makanalani since 2014, and last year saw the Makanalani team launch the West Side location of Chicken in a Barrel BBQ restaurant.

During this past month there have been two major and super exciting changes!

Da Pizza Place:

We are now serving pizza on the West Side!

Under the guidance of Josh Sabio who manages the BBQ restaurant in Waimea, we have created and tested an extensive pizza menu, refined the processes to make it easier to serve consistently high-quality pizzas, and most importantly we have received glowing reviews from the locals down there.

Watch this space for more exciting news of God’s blessings as we develop this new business!

West Side Intern House:

Kauai has very low unemployment – much lower than the national average. (Go figure, who doesn’t want to come live on Kauai, right?) With lots of jobs and not enough people, it’s always hard to find or keep good workers. So Makanalani has come up with a unique solution: A new small intern program just for the West Side.

We got a house in Waimea that can comfortably accommodate 5 people at a time. We hire young adults from the mainland who want to spend 6 months or more on this beautiful island where they get complete training in our West Side businesses and get paid while doing that!

This past month Lyn and Eric rolled up their sleeves and got the new WAIMEA TEAM HOUSE ready for their new arrivals, located at the picturesque Waimea Plantation Cottages! They cleaned, refurbished, painted, and then furnished it to make it a special place to stay. The first interns have arrived, and have given us a thumbs up on their new digs. Contact Josh Sabio at (951)-252-7783 if you or somebody you know is interested in being part of the new West Side team!!

Our Mission: Giving children the seeds for growth as they experience the beauty of God’s creation and love.
