It’s Summer & That Means Summer Camp!

We say it every year and every year it seems more and more true… time simply seems to go faster every year. Can you believe it’s summer already and we’re talking camp! Of course here at Makanalani it’s always busy and we’re no different now, welcoming groups of keiki to God’s infinite love and Makanalani to enjoy time in fun and fellowship.

If you are looking for other camps for your keiki to attend then we have plenty to share with you. In the first of two posts we will share with you all that’s good and fun on Kauai for our island keiki to enjoy.

First up from June 4th-8th, 11th-15th and 18th-22nd and daily from 9am-12:30 pm it’s the KUGA Mixed Media Summer Art Camp. This mixed media summer art camp is open to keiki aged 5 to 12 years on different weeks. June 4th-8th is for 5-8 yr olds, June 11th-15th is for 9-12 yr olds, and June 18th-22nd is for 5-8 yr olds. The camp costs $225 per week with a sibling discount of 10%. It’s held at Warehouse 3540 Art Studio and young artists are asked ti attend with lunch and a bottle of water, and are expected to get messy! One for our nature lovers is the Wild Roots Nature Connection Summer Program. Held from Monday to Thursday from June 4th to July 13th and daily from 9am to 3pm this camp offers: games, music, primitive skills and natural crafts. Anaina Hou Summer Camp is running from June 4th-15th, and from 8am-3 pm daily. This camp for keiki aged 7-12 years old has eight different classes to choose from: Art-sea Craft-sea with Patty Irons, Hike and Sing with Wendy Buzby, Aloha ‘Aina Gardening with Ashton West, ‘Ukulele with Rose Alfiler-Taboniar, Muraling with Marine Debris with Jennifer Rose Pero, Keiki Cooking with Carrie Harris, PE & Team Building with Sheena Juliano, and Deep Nature Camp with Tyler Rautmann! Last up is the Kids College (for grades 6-8) at KCC-OCET. Choose from seven weeks worth of college: Week 1, June 4th-8th, from 8am-Noon it’s Woodshop, Week 2, June 12th-15th, from 8am-Noon it’s Town Craft, Week 2, June 12th-15th, from 12:30pm-4:30pm it’s Blast to the Past, Week 3, June 18th-22nd, from 8am-Noon it’s Mythbusters, Week 3, June 18th-22nd, from 12:30pm-4:30pm it’s Programming from SCRATCH, Week 4, June 25th-29th, from 8am-Noon it’s Wetlands, Waterfowl, Water Life, Week 4, June 25th-29th, from 12:30pm-4:30pm it’s Math in Unexpected Places, Week 5, July 2nd-6th, No Classes, Week 6, July 9th-13th, from 8am-Noon it’s Sci-Fi vs Reality, Week 7, July 16th-20th, from 8am-Noon it’s Hawaiiana Myths & Crafts.
