Serving Our Community, DJ Mike, and Giving Tuesday — Nov 15, 2017

The Makanalani Interns have been hard at work, both on the farm and in our community, serving local organizations in need of extra hands. Here are some of the ways they’ve helped so far:

  • Week one our interns helped with a fall festival at a local private school playing games with kids and running fair-type booths.
  • The next week our crew served at Calvary Chapel North Shore with their outreach on Halloween night, passing out candy, running games for kids, face painting, and assisting with setting up and tearing down.
  • This past Thursday the interns drove to Lihue to volunteer at another private school, grading papers, teaching PE, organizing, and cleaning.

These four interns volunteer joyfully, and we couldn’t be more proud and grateful for all they’re doing here on Kauai! Please remember them in your prayers as they grow and learn during their Serve Session.

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of hosting DJ Mike from KWAVE radio in southern California, who came to the island to see our intern program in action. He stayed with the interns at Alohalani and spent time talking with them in order to learn how the program works so that he can go back and promote our next Serve Session on the air. We are so grateful to Mike and KWAVE for their help in spreading the word!

Giving Tuesday is just 2 weeks away! If you participate in Giving Tuesday, please consider giving your gift to Makanalani so that kids can continue to come to camp. We truly appreciate the support!
