LAST WEEK AT A GLANCE…

On Wednesday night last week, a large group came together at Makanalani to celebrate the Feast of Trumpets. This is a feast from the Old Testament, that served as a reminder to Israel that they were a people under covenant. Now, as Christians, this day celebrates the new covenant that we have with Jesus. There was delicious food, great fellowship, and of course some ram horns to make the trumpet call.

Over the weekend, Koloa Missionary Church brought a group of high school girls for a special weekend, focused on their inward beauty. All of the girls who attended have been to Makanalani before, and in some cases many times. It is such a great gift to be able to have students like these return time and again, and see first hand the growth that occurs in their lives over the years.

One of the ways we are able to bless young people with the gift of Makanalani is through JoJo’s Shave Ice. We have two locations on the island currently, and 100% of the profits are used to support our camp. This past week, our Hanalei shop alone served 1,090 shave ice desserts to thirsty beach-goers at the bay. We were also informed by one of our customers, that the San Francisco Gate, an online magazine, claimed that JoJo’s serves the best shave ice on the island! Check out their article HERE.
