We have officially opened our first 3 Serve Sessions for our new Internship program, and we have already begun to receive applications! Our first Serve Session begins October 23rd, and we are still looking to fill more spots. If you know of any young adults who would be interested in serving Makanalani this fall, please send them our way. They can get more information and apply at www.alohalanihouse.com.
Did you know that we have 9 mini-donkeys on our farm? Most of our animals and trees produce income for the farm to help offset costs. But these friendly faces are simply there to produce joy! And that’s exactly what they do for each and every group that comes to admire them. We have 5 Jennys (girls) and 4 Jacks (boys), and their favorite treats are alfalfa cubes, which they like to scoop from the hands of happy visitors.
This past weekend we had the privilege of opening Makanalani to the families of Ohana Christian Fellowship. They are a vibrant church group who meets at the middle school in Kapaa, about 30 minutes away. On Friday night, the women of the church came first for a few hours of special fellowship with one another. Then on Saturday morning, their families came to join them for the rest of the weekend, ending with their Sunday morning church service at Makanalani. They are a wonderful group of people, and we are so thankful we had this opportunity to enjoy fellowship with their congregation!
