A family focused event with the intention of bringing the whole community together. That’s the thinking behind the Rice Street Block Party to be held on Saturday, September 23rd, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. While it’s only going to be on Rice street for a few hours, it’s actually taking part all day long in the nearby Kalena Park. The full area for the party will be Rice Street from Kalena St. to Kress St., Rice Shopping Center, and Kalena Park.
There’s plenty to see and do as well with art, culture, food, and live music. There will be a Tiger Grant Preview to show the proposed redevelopment of Rice St. A basketball tournament starting at 8:00 am, live music from Revival, 1st Cut, Kirby Keough, Wilcox Elementary, Taiko Kauai, Joyful Noise, and Makana with Estrella who will be on stage at Rice & Kalena at 7:30-8:30 pm, food trucks and specials from local businesses, and a keiki zone at Kalena Park with free shave ice, hot dogs, popcorn, chips, and drinks. And parking won’t be a problem as there will be free parking at Kauai war Memorial Convention Hall parking lot.
It sounds like a great fun filled family day out, and if you’d like to know more just click here to be taken to the website.
