Huge numbers of people come to Kauai each year for vacations and events, and this is one of them. Every year hundreds of swimmers of all ages and experience levels take part in the Hanalei Bay Swim Challenge, some coming from all around the world to do so!
And who can blame them, Hanalei Bay is just beautiful, and at this time of year the water is calm, flat and feels like warm silk to be in. We truly are blessed by our Creator, and so very lucky to live Kauai!
The race is open for swimmers of all ages with several different races to choose from: the staggered pier swim is for keiki only and parents can swim with their children if they choose, two 1000 meter races, one with fin and snorkel, and the huge 3000 meter bay swim. All participants will receive a commemorative swim cap and there are ribbons for all finishers.
The race will be held on Saturday, July 29th starting at 7am. You can register on the day or on the website hanaleibayswimchallenge.com/race-registration
Safety needn’t be a concern, as well as being the first priority the race is also closely watched by safety monitors on paddle boards, with jet skis and along the shore, as well as handing out ocean safety informations to all swimmers.
