Have you ever made a lei, or wanted to? Or maybe you’re just an admirer of these beautiful traditional creations. One of Kauai’s best loved events is coming up, the 37th Annual May Day Lei Contest is on Monday, May 1st, from 11am to 4 pm at the Kauai Marriott in Lihue.
You can enter your lei into the contest, learn to make a lei, and buy or win one to take home. There will also be live music to serenade your perusal and food to purchase. There is also a separate Keiki La Lei Contest at the Kauai Museum to encourage youth participation in learning the art of lei making.
