Happy Valentine’s Day!

Aloha! We all know it means love, but did you ever wonder if there was a Hawaiian version of ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’? Well there is, kinda.

It’s easy to understand that Valentine’s Day wasn’t celebrated in ancient Hawaii so there is no actual word for Valentine, but as it’s a day about love we know a word for that – Aloha.

If you add that along with the Hawaiian word for happy and day and use Hawaiian sentence structure we get ‘Hau’oli la aloha’ which translates to ‘Happy love day’ (or more literally happy day of love).

While there is no greater love than that of God for us all, here’s wishing you all the happiest of Valentine’s Day, filled with aloha, family and friends.
