Jesus is, of course, referred to as the Lamb of God. He is also often portrayed with lambs as a symbol of his perfect peace & his ultimate sacrifice. In Jewish religious life, the sacrifice of lambs played an important part. It was John the Baptist who originally referred to Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)
A few days ago, we talked about the gathering & sorting we do with our sheep at Makanalani. This made us contemplate Jesus as the Lamb of God & to investigate some of the expressions of this in classical art. Here we share with you some of our favorites.
