Education & Creativity

We are passionate about education at Makanalani. It is so very important for our youth, of course, & through them for the whole world.

One aspect of education that gets ignored too often is creativity. And creativity, the arts, dance, music, writing, these are things that bring us close to God & celebrate Him through the gifts he has bestowed upon us.

We would like to see more emphasis on education in schools. More emphasis on whole child learning & less on blaming & testing. We are delighted that we are not alone in this quest.

Sir Ken Robinson, a brilliant leader in leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources in education and in business has also addressed creativity in our schools… because without creativity encourage & rewarded in our young people, we will not see it in business or in solving the many problems of this world.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this TED talk with Sir Robinson which briefly outlines what can be done to make our educational system more appropriate for the 21st century. We especially like his analogy of industrial to farming & his conclusion that schools should be more like farms. As farmers ourselves, we understand exactly what he is saying.
