Yesterday we talked about the art of Russian artist Oleg Korolev. Today we would like you to meet Ghenadie Sontu from the tiny Eastern European country of Moldova.
Unlike the abstract art we have been focusing on lately, Mr. Sontu’s Christian art is figurative & provocative. He shows important people from the bible as they might have appeared as children, & it seems to us that he can almost peer into their souls. His paintings really show the character of each subject, taking us beyond the obvious. The wisdom of Moses, the fierce warrior David, gentle Peter, stalwart Mary Magdalene, they are all here.
Of course, since our focus here at Makanalani is on all of our many Makalani Kids who attend our camps, we were particularly charmed by Mr. Sontu’s work.
We would love to have them all to gaze at as we read the passages in the Bible that pertain to each character. We’re sure you’ll enjoy this brief tour of Mr. Sontu’s work.
