What’s New… Ohana Christian Fellowship, Interns of the Week, Kauai Christian Academy Pre-schoolers

A group of junior high and high school students from Ohana Christian Fellowship visited Makanalani last week. They enjoyed their time in fellowship, competing in team challenges during their stay, and being the first group to use our new Gaga ball pit!

This weeks interns of the week are Katie and Genni. Katie and Genni are a couple of many returning interns. We are so excited to have them back!

1. Why did you choose to return to do another internship session?
K: “I returned to Makanalani because it’s an amazing community. To be surrounded by his beautiful creation all the time is a blessing that I couldn’t pass up.”
G: “I chose to return for another session because I grew so much as a person last summer and my relationship with God became a lot stronger. I wanted to come back to build on everything I learned last summer.”

2. What’s your favorite part about Makanalani?
K: “My favorite part about Makanalani is how the work we do is very behind the scenes. We don’t get a huge amount of recognition, and I think that really helps us to be humble in our service to God.”
G: “Working and spending time with the other interns and getting to meet people from all over is one of my favorite parts. I also love to see how happy people are when they come to stay at Makanalani.”

3. What have you learned between both of your times doing the internship?
K: “I have learned to not take moments for granted and not to have expectations. These 2 sessions have been vastly different and I found that I was making the transition difficult for myself. It’s important to always keep moving forward and adapting to wherever you’re sent.”
G: “Between the 2 sessions, I’ve really learned how to get out of my comfort zone. I’ve done a ton of things that I never thought I would do, and everyday is a new learning experience.”

The adorable little pre-schoolers from Kauai Christian Academy took a field trip to Makanalani this past week. They explored the farm, played on the slip-n-slide, and visited with our cows and miniature donkeys.
