Kauai Mens Conference

There are many definitions of what it means to be a man and many people who will be only to happy to tell you what they think too. But a man is simply that, a man, a child of God.

Over the years there have been many cultural and social shifts in the roles and expectations for men leaving many confused as to what their role is or that they may find it hard to break the mold of what a man should be and become the man that God wants them to be.

This leads to the question “What is a Man” which is also the theme of this year’s Kauai Mens Conference presented by Kauai Fatherhood Council. At this year’s conference the Lokahi Wheel will be used as a foundation to explore manhood in cultural, military, socio-political, and religious/spiritual perspectives. The Lokahi Wheel stands for Kuleana/Responsibility, Ohana/Family, Mana’o/Knowledge, Na’au/Morals, Mana/Spirit, Kino/Health, and Laulima/work together, and the aim of the conference is to promote understanding and growth among men.

This free event takes place on Saturday, October 27th, from 8:00am until 2:00 pm and will be held at Smith’s Tropical Paradise. If you’d like to attend or simply find out more then please call Brian Alston on 217-1831, or click here for the eventbrite site to register.

“The mission of the Kauai Fatherhood Council is to encourage male presence and male involvement in Kauai’s families and community. Venue for the male voice, gender-just, fair treatment of all peoples. Improve the lives of men, husbands and fathers of all ages on Kauai so that they in turn make a significant and beneficial difference to the lives of their children, their spouse and of those in their community.’

‘Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”’
